The deck contains a total of 108 cards. Canasta uses two full 52-card decks and 4 Jokers.

You'll find the traditional 4 suits (♠︎ Spades, ♥︎ Hearts, ♦︎ Diamonds, and ♣︎ Clubs) in the game. Unlike conventional card games, the card values displayed on the cards do not represent their actual value.

Additionally, Canasta Fun uses wild cards. These are the Joker and twos: Jokers are worth 50 points and twos are worth 20 points.

Wild cards can be used to replace a card of any rank to form a meld. For example, two Queens and one Joker. If a wild card is discarded, it blocks the use of the discard pile for the next player's turn (for one turn only).

The red threes are bonus cards worth 100 points (or negative 100 points when a player or team has not melded cards on the table). The red threes are placed directly on the table and their bonus values are only taken into consideration when the game ends. If a bonus card is drawn from the stock pile, an additional card is automatically drawn from the stock pile.

The black threes are worth 5 points and can be used to block the discard pile. When discarded, they block the next player from drawing a card from the discard pile (for one turn). After this turn, a player may draw the frozen card if they can meld it with other black threes in their hand.

The remaining cards (known as natural cards) are valued as follows:

4 to 7: 5 points
8 to King: 10 points
Ace: 20 points
