Coinche is the strategic and more competitive version of Belote.

In this variant, each player evaluates their hand and bids on the number of points their team can score. This bid is called the contract.

But once your partner has bid, how do you know whether to support them or pass?
Whether you're new to Coinche or an experienced player, knowing when and how to raise your partner’s bid is a key skill that can turn the game around.

This guide walks you through step-by-step on how to make the right decision to become a better partner.

🎯 Scenario: Your partner just bid 80 in Spades (♠). Should you raise?
Here’s how to decide:

🔍 Step 1: Do you have Spades (♠) in your hand?
👉 No? Then don’t raise. Without Spades, you can’t support your partner’s contract. Click “Pass” and wait for the contract to be made or for the next deal.
👉 Yes? Great! Move to the next step.

🔍 Step 2: Are your Spades (♠) strong? 💪
Look for powerful trump cards like the Jack, 9, Ace, or 10.
👉 If you have the Jack (Valet), add +20 points to the bid.
👉 If you have the 9, Ace, or 10, add +10 points for each to the bid.
👉 No strong Spades? Continue to the next step.

🔍 Step 3: Do you have Belote-Rebelote? 🤴👸
Do you hold the King and Queen in the trump suit? The King and Queen of trump suits will help you raise the bid.
👉 Yes? Then add +20 points. These points are guaranteed as the Belote-Rebelote is “impregnable”.
👉 No? Then on to the next step.

🔍 Step 4: Do you have any Aces in other suits? 🂡
👉 Each Ace (outside the trump suit) adds +10 points to your bid.
👉 No Aces? Move to the final step.

🔍 Step 5: Do you have a Meld? 📣
A meld is a special combination of cards, such as:
👉 Tierce (Straight of 3)
👉 Cinquante (Straight of 4)
👉 Cent (Straight of 5)
👉 Carré (Four of a kind)
You can raise your bid based on the value of your meld 👇

Meld's value

⚠️ Important: Melds are only valid if your team scores at least 82 points in tricks, excluding melds and Belote-Rebelote!

💡 Bonus Tip:
If your meld is in the trump, it takes precedence over a meld of equal value in another suit. That gives your team an advantage, and another good reason to raise the bid! 😉
